![]() ![]() One of the archive lines outright states that Hunter is a human.ĪDVENT soldier in reference to Hunter’s excessive training via Commander’s mind: Do you understand what they are doing to him? The data…that is being transferred to him…it is not just…Think about what will happen to him. It has to come from another place and that could only be their background, their origin: human kind. (Hunter in the first place), which means they would have never added humanity to the Chosen on their own will. How he could have lost something he never had in the first place? The Elders certainly do not welcome any sort of human traits/behavior from the fellow Chosen, openly punishing them for expressing any semblance of human emotions and compassion. The ‘lose my humanity’ line makes absolutely no sense if Hunter has never been human. I believe this difference is meant to create discussion, to throw the players off and analyse these two major points. I’m something of a hunter myself, so I won’t hold it against you.” “From what I’ve heard, you Reapers have a taste for alien meat. The Reapers, certainly has a nice ring to it. Hunter: “I’d be lying if I said I didn’t like your style. While I do agree that it can be argued that Hunter is merely interested in Reaper faction to the point of wanting to know basically everything about them and even use the same style of fighting and speaking, the above mentioned lines stand out from the majority of his lines when he merely references the gathered knowledge like below. The Elders: You have succumbed to the falling of your humanity. If he hasn’t been trying to get rid of us so obstinately, he would have made a great recruit. Reaper report: He speaks like he is already one of us. Hunter is improbably well acquainted with Reaper methods, which caused many to believe he is, in fact, that lost agent. He had been pursuing the Reaper faction for a long time: the moment of his appearance ties up with disappearance of one of their most valuable agents. They’ve become so predictable.”Īrchives: Hunter, the second Chosen, was created by the Elders as an unsurpassed tactic, capable of predicting and countering the guerrilla operations. “You know, when all is said and done I’ll actually be sad to see you go. “You could have learned a lot from me, Reaper. Hunter: "Maybe I should take over for Volk, show you how a real hunter operates. ![]() Hunter: “…Perhaps the Elders were right… I have spent too much time among humans.“ “ It’s times like these I regret losing my humanity. The fear you are experiencing now must be so exhilarating. However, there are a few things the game makes clear about the Hunter specifically: he is the second created Chosen and is heavily hinted to be a former Reaper member, and therefore a human. And even having played the whole campaign more than a few times, it is hard to piece the whole picture unless you have access to the full specter of his lines. Instead it cracks the mystery box little by little by offering you hints and implications using the canon dialogue throughout the whole process. This is not a game mechanics post, but rather a dwell in his personality, background, design choices, etc.īackground: The game never throws cold facts at you when it comes to any of the Chosen. Disclaimer: In this post I will try to analyze his character, basing my points on the information from the Avenger Archives and his dialogue and appearance in cutscenes. ![]()
